RESEARCH
My interests include remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry, unmanned aircraft systems, visualization, and geoscience education.
My current projects include but not limited to:
Satellite and UAV-based thermal and hyperspectral remote sensing of the land surface, water, and ecology.
Visualization using GIS, 3D technology, and game programming.
Active learning in college geology education with virtual geology learning.
Geomorphological evolution of land surface and its use in the conservation of geoheritage with community-engaged learning.
Virtual Geology Learning
Active learning in college geology education with virtual geology learning.

Virtual Geology Learning helps students learn geology using virtual technologies. It covers Virtual Laboratory with Virtual Specimens, Virtual Outcrop, Virtual Overlook, Virtual Flight in 3D Map, and Virtual Gaming and Animations. I have developed Virtual Geology Learning Toolbox(TM) containing several virtual geology tools.
Remote Sensing and GIS, and 3D visualizations
Investigating spatio-temporal variation of thermal refugia for trouts with thermal infrared mapping with Unmanned Aerial System
Investigating land cover with high-resolution UAV-based hyperspectral mapping
Visualizing spatio-temporal changes in the distribution of trouts and sagebrush and visualizing future scenarios based on climate change and development policies.
